With reference to your letter dated 19th February last, No. 6274/1902, on the subject of the
exchange of military lands at Hong Kong; I am directed
by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for the information of Mr Secretary Chamberlain, that in
view of the urgent representations which have been made
with regard to the desirability of proceeding with the
new doak, Mr Secretary Brodrick will not withhold his
assent to exchange No. 2 being carried out, provided
that none of the existing rights of this Department over
the military reserve lands are prejudiced, and that if
after a proper valuation it is found that the land which
this Department is giving up is of greater value than
the site received, the difference will be credited to
this Department in the Colonial Military Lands Account.
2. I am to add that a further communication will
be addressed to you on the subject of exchanges 1 and 3.
